In 2005, an evaluation of the first phase of DEEEP was carried out, to assess its overall functioning and operation! It came out that DEEEP1 has been successful in:

 

1. Facilitating the exchange of information and ideas and cooepration between the different NGOS, in both old and new member states.
2. Creating a sense of ownership amongst stakeholders.
3. Delivering on all specific outputs in its objectives. DEEEP1 produced a website and a regular newsletter. There were also electronic mailing lists of over 400 names. Furthermore, the numbers of the hits on the website havesteadily increased during the three years of DEEEP1. The website was not only used by the DEEEP network, but also by people from a wide range of countries who do not have any direct contact with DEEEP.
4. Having raised the profile of Development Education in Europe.
5. Defining, along with the DE Forum a common definition of Development Education that could be presented to the outside world.
