Aims of DEEEP 3
DEEEP is a programme initiated by the Development Awareness Raising and Education Forum of CONCORD that aims at strengthening the capacities of NGDOs to raise awareness, educate and mobilise the European public for world-wide poverty eradication and social inclusion. DEEEP is co-funded by the European Union, under the objective 2 of the Non State Actors and Local Authorities budget line.


Direct Target Groups

  • the European NGDOs (to strengthen their capacity as multipliers of development-related issues and mobilisers of European citizens) and Civil Socities Organisations.
  • All 27 EU Member States and the 3 main European institutions (European Commission, European Council and European Parliament, to gain their support to Development Education and Development Awareness.

Indirect Target Groups

For its central role in the Multi-stakeholder Process, DEEEP will also reach and the following new actors involved in such process:

  • European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP),  European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI), European Youth Forum (EYF), European Platform of local and regional authorities for development and the Council of European Municipalities and regions (CEMR), International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC).

Objectives

1. On-going pan-European and National coordination, networking, exchange, learning and systematisation mechanisms are actively supported and coordinated
2. Political support to Development Education at European and National level is increased and translated into concrete strategies and policiies
3. A pan-European multi-actor reference framework on quality Development/Global Education is developed
4. Skills and knowledge of Development/Global Education practitioners are improved and increased all over the EU-27


Management

DEEEP is managed by a consortium of five DE NGOs - Plan Finland, Oxfam Italia, ITECO, Think Global and HAND - under the auspices and in co-ordination with the Development Awareness Raising and Education Forum of CONCORD.



DEEEP 3, Developing Europeans Engagement for the Eradication of Poverty, was launched on October 1, 2009.

The following activities will be carried on for 3 years, until September 30, 2012.



DEEEP will keep on acting as an antenna in Brussels catching the opportunities offered by the Brussels environment.
