Devlopment Education projects: some examples of good practice
Development Education and Awareness Raising in Europe about global interdependence, Human rights, social justice, and sustainable development is having an increasingly important impact on the way we think and act as responsible global citizens. NGOs members of CONCORD are in the forefront of this work, and have pioneered development education with young people in schools, with teachers, youth workers, trade unions, faith communities and with many other groups and other institutions throughout civil society.
Development Education provides essential foundation for empowering and engaging people in global campaigns, helping them to acquire the knowledge, skills and commitment to actively deal with the major international issues of our times, and to advocate for a fairer world.
There are many examples of well planned and successful DE projects in countries throughout Europe. The following examples provide a flavour of what work is going on, who it is organised with, how it is undertaken, and what impact it has on the target group.
The projects
- have made a significant impact on their intended target group
- have been innovative and inclusive in their work
The projects are significant because of:
- the themes they address
- their methodology
- the useful outputs such as published materials or training packages
- the effective way they met the needs and requirements of the target groups
- their influence and contribution to government policies processes
